The World Pickleball Rankings: A New Era for Global Pickleball

A new global ranking system is bringing professional pickleball together under one leaderboard.

August 18th, 2026

Professional pickleball has entered a new era.

In August, the Carvana PPA Tour announced the launch of the World Pickleball Rankings (WPR), a global ranking system designed to create one unified leaderboard for professional players around the world. The system officially launched with the 2026–27 season.

For the first time, results from PPA Tour events around the world feed into the same ranking system, creating a more connected competitive landscape for professional pickleball.

One Ranking. Three Disciplines.

The WPR takes into account a player’s performance across singles, gender doubles and mixed doubles, rather than focusing on just one discipline.

The ranking is weighted as follows:

  • Gender Doubles — 50%
  • Mixed Doubles — 35%
  • Singles — 15%

Points are calculated from a player’s best 14 results over the previous 52 weeks, with results from PPA events around the world contributing to the same global leaderboard.

This approach rewards players who can perform consistently across multiple disciplines and compete at the highest level in different formats.

What It Means for European Pickleball

For European players, the introduction of the WPR represents an important development.

As the PPA Tour continues to expand internationally, European tournaments can now contribute directly to the same global ranking system as events in the United States and other international markets.

That creates a clearer competitive pathway for European players looking to establish themselves on the international stage.

At Smash Pickleball Agency, we see this as another important step toward a more connected professional pickleball ecosystem, one where players can compete, build their ranking and create opportunities across borders.

With the continued growth of PPA Tour Europe, European players will have an increasingly important role to play in this global landscape.

One tour. One point system. One global stage.
